"My Hope Is Built" by Norton Hall Band from Southern Seminary
Scripture:
Matthew 7:24-27
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Devotion:
I live in hurricane territory- Florida! Specifically, in our area, there is this one multilevel house that everyone is familiar with. For the longest time, it was not built on a solid foundation, in fact, it was practically hovering the water with posts drilled into the sand of the bay. Can we talk about a major facepalm?! After every major storm, we would drive by just in anticipation to see if the house was still standing or wiped out. It is important to build your trust in God on a solid foundation so that you do not waiver in your faith. Build your foundation by digging deep into the Word and finding a community that can hold you accountable.
Prayer:
God, You are our solid foundation, all else is sinking sand. I pray that You help us stand resilient in even the strongest of hurricanes of our life. We ask this in Your Son’s precious and most holy name. Amen.
